SciFi.com is reporting that many familiar faces return in the upcoming third-season premiere of ABC’s hit series Lost, “A Tale of Two Cities,” including William Mapother’s deceased Ethan and John Terry’s Christian Shephard, Jack’s father, the network announced. The episode, written by co-creators J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof from a story by Lindelof, also marks the return of Julie Bowen as Jack’s wife, Sarah, who was last seen in the season-two episode “The Hunting Party.” In “A Tale of Two Cities,” Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly) and Sawyer (Josh Holloway) begin to discover what they are up against as prisoners of the Others, led by Henry Gale (new series regular Michael Emerson).

Besides Mapother, Terry and Bowen, the premiere’s guest stars include M.C. Gainey as the Others’ Mr. Friendly (aka Zeke), Brett Cullen as Goodwin, Blake Bashoff as Karl, Julie Adams as Amelia, Stephen Semel as Adam, Isabelle Cherwin as a little girl, Alexandra Morgan as a moderator, Sonya Seng as a receptionist, Sally Davis as a teacher and Julie Ow as a nurse. Jack Bender directed “A Tale of Two Cities,” which premieres October 4 in Lost’s regular Wednesday timeslot, 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Producers of ABC’s hit series Lost, which aired its surprising second-season finale on May 24, told SCI FI Wire that it sets up the upcoming third season, which will focus more on romance—and on the mysterious Others. “The Others are an important part of season three, and there’s a lot of mysteries and a lot of questions about the Others that the audience is going to be curious about going into season three,” said executive producer Carlton Cuse in an interview. “And those are the things we’re going to explore.”

Cuse added: “There will definitely be some new characters on the show next year. Obviously, Michael Emerson, who plays Henry Gale, he’s someone who’s going to be very prominent in the show next year.” Fans were also introduced to a new character who promises to figure in next season’s storylines: Penelope Widmore, played by Sonya Walger.

My Name Is Earl Preview 05.11.06
Posted on May 11th, 2006 at 11:21 am

The hit comedy closes Season 1 with a special 40-minute episode written and directed by Earl creator Greg Garcia. The Hickey boys hit hard times when Earl tackles No. 1 on his list and ends up giving away his lotto winnings to a guy from whom he stole $10. Penniless and starving, Earl never loses faith that karma will take care of him. Randy, on the other hand, is less sure and tries to persuade his older brother to steal some food: “You know I get angry when I’m hungry — like the Hulk, only I don’t turn green and muscly. I just get dizzy and snap at people who don’t deserve it.”

In tonight’s extended second-season finale, the Dunder Mifflin warehouse is transformed into an all-out, Vegas-like gambling hall for the Scranton Business Park’s casino night. But the event is not without its dicey moments, particularly when Michael ends up with two dates. Series star Steve Carell wrote the episode.

Lost Preview 05.10.06
Posted on May 10th, 2006 at 7:35 am

The Lost bloodletting has begun, and don’t expect it to end with Ana Lucia (RIP) and Libby (?). But it is cathartic and, as executive producer Carlton Cuse told Michael Ausiello, “everything that happens for the rest of the season all sort of falls” from Ana Lucia’s death. So expect dominoes to begin to fall tonight as Jack goes on the warpath, Locke discovers something about the hatch map, Kate edges closer to Sawyer, and Eko and others face new tests.

Alias Preview 05.10.06
Posted on May 10th, 2006 at 7:34 am

Renee’s out of the picture, but a chip found inside her in tonight’s episode could lead to Vaughn. If so, depending on which Sydney gets to him first, it might determine whether or not little Isabelle grows up without a father, a mother or both. Speaking of dads and daughters, I guess Sloane won’t be picking up any Father of the Year awards anytime soon, though, to be fair, Nadia did ask him to choose between her and Rambaldi. Looks like the old prophet won.
