BET Remains In Talks To Bring Back The Game
August 24th, 2009 | 61 Comments | Email | Share | TweetBET remains in talks with The Game’s producer CBS TV Studio about ordering a new season of the Girlfriends’ spinoff. The CW canceled The Game in May after three seasons. Series creator Mara Brock Akil in April pitched The CW an hourlong version of the show as a way of to keep it on the network.
Following the cancellation, BET began preliminary talks with CBS Studios about possibly taking in the series with new originals. The network already runs repeats of both The Game and Girfriends. The options on the The Game actors have lapsed, so if a deal is reached with BET, CBS Studios would have to make new contacts with them.
I really hope BET gets the contract deal for The Game. I followed the show from season one and was a bit disappointed when I heard the CW was canceling the show because they was no longer interested in keeping 30min shows.

I am so mad to hear The Game is not being picked up my the CW and that the future of the show is in jeopardy. I really hope that it gets picked up. It seems really interested to me that after the CW gets popular all of the shows that got them started are gone and the entire image of the channel has changed. The channel is full of shows about silver spooned teenagers having sex and getting everything they want. Really irritated with getting into shows and they get canceled in the middle and leave you hanging forever.
I pray BET picks up this show and the actors will return. I loved the show and looked forward to seeing it each week.

I really hope The Game is pick up by some network, i really like the show. it is a same that every black show is taking off the air. when they keep bringing show on like 90210 and melrose place, They should have left that show in the 90’s. AGAIN I HOPE THEY PICK THE SHOW UP/

I love watching loves The Game. All of my girlfriends watch it also. What’s the problem just bring the show back. It seems like everytime we get a show that we love watching, it always get cancel. PLEASE BRING THE SHOW BACK. WE NEED TO STOP WATCHING THE “CW” since they have canceled all of the good shows like GIRLFRIENDS, THE GAME AND EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS.
I agree, with Netta, we need to stop watching and supporting the CW, obviously they do not care about a particular demographic as evident by the shows that are on their network….Boycott. When the fans of 7th Heaven wanted that show back, they wrote in, they did whatever they could to bring the show back for one more season….It came back and that was after they had a season finale which was suppose to be the last episode. Hopefully BET will pick it up and the heck with the CW.

I enjoyed Girlfriends, All of us, One on One, Veronica mars, And The Game; all these shows were very
original to me and in each one was something I could realte to.
Living in Beverly Hills and and getting mad when my dad can’t buy me a new fendi bag, That’s unrelatable to me.
So personally i only watch The Cw For One Tree Hill, And if that goes off then use lost one viewer.

I agree.. The Game is my favorite show and BEt needs some positive programming.. Nothing but Ghetto videos, Frankie & Neffie show is garbage and also Wendy Williams show. We need “THE GAME” back.. it depics African americans in a positive manner.. talks about succesful athletes juggling relationship and is just “REAL”,, I feel Season 3 finale left room for there to be a season 4.. The baby not be Derwins, Jason & Kelly get back 2ghtr have that 2nd kid Jason wanted.. it was obvious Jason & Kelly were still in love, Aslo Rick foxx and Tasha Mack can re-kindle there romance, Melonie get jeolous of Janay and Derwins baby end up having 2nd thought about the marriage.. All kind of stuuf.. And again, I feel BET needs some positive programming.. Also, amazing how racist “CW Network” is Wow!! Cancelled all of the African American shows.. THE GAME belongs on BET.. they are being funny not handing over he rights.. Trying to show who’s in charge.. The White man always has the last say , huh?

It is terrible that the Game was cancelled so prematurely. I am and will remain a fan of the show. I hate that Tyras on that network considering my family and friends are boycotting andrefuse to watch anything on the CW. They feel like they’re doing us a service by showing other black shows in sydication…jz can’t catch a break

I am so hoping The Game is picked up by BET… I don’t know where I was for teh past few months but I just found out a few days ago that it was cancelled… :( Since I ahve been all over the progress BET is making picking this show up and who knows, it good be the start of BET having more scripted shows… figers crossed X! = )
Look, I don’t watch much television but I absolutely love the game. It’s like watching real life with all the drama. For instance, most shows have people breaking up and getting back together within two weeks but “The Game” kept it real.. it showed relationships don’t always go the way we plan and it’s not a fairytale. Derwin had to literally fight for Melanie.
Boycott the CW….unfortunately that means we won’t be able to support the Tyra Show either, but once again, The CW doesn’t care about this particular demographic…..Why don’t we find out what we as fans can do to ensure that another network picks up the Game. BET definitely needs some positive programming, I’m disappointed in most of the mess that is on BET, it can certainly use a face lift.
I agree with you that everyone should boycot the CW because of the simple fact that they forget that The Game, GIrlfriends, Eve. Is the reason that everybody started watching it, they want to bring childish shows on that only cater to a certain group of people, as well as a certaing age group. and Tyra is already loosing ratings. Yes BET needs The Game becuase all BET has is reality shows that are not good they went with the fact that everybody liked seeinf Frankie N Neffie argue all the time, and ran with it. I Cannot believe they cancelled the show. So I am trying to figure out are they cancelling it because it is 30 minutes or because it is a show that black people like watching. It sure seems that way to me. I had just started watching the show in season 3 so I definitely dissappointed.

save THE GAME not many dramedy shows had such good writing as this……its amazing how my 9yr old noticed that there is only 1 african-american on 90210 and he has white parents we cant have an entire african-american family live in that zip code it just amazes me, so I will no longer watch the CW network even though I will miss the reuns of another cancelled show HALF-HALf
Half & Half was a good show I;m MAD that one was cancelled and even more pissed off that they cancelled Girlfriends with out letting us see Joan get married do they know how long we have been waiting to finally see her get married.

I watched the Game from season one to the wedding and i still youtube some of my favorite episodes. I think it’s so stupid that the cw got rid of the game. I think it got soething to do with race. I mean why bring 90210 and Melrose place back???? The new show will never NEVER measure up to the old show. I hope they stop being so selfish and dumb and give BET the rights to the game because I don’t wanna see that show go. I am addicted to the characters from every tear to the anger I felt and related to everything they were going through.

I am dying a slow and painful withdrawal death. I am not quite sure what is required and what the legal issues concerning the releasing of “The Game” to BET, but my husband and I are officially “The Game” junkies. We have our PVR set to record every and all episodes on all channels that it may come on it hopes that we will catch an episode that we have missed.
I’m like every1 else BRING BACK BET’s “THE GAME” !!!! Kelsey Grammer is genius… I’ve watched most of his shows starting w/Cheers to The Game…including Girlfriends. It sickens me that they can remake shows like Melrose Place & 90210…But The Game is an adult comedy drama all in one with all of my favorite characters. Now all BET has to do re-sign & continue playing shows Please no more reruns…Begging to watch more of The Game.

I am so sick of the “Frankie and Neffe” show, this is suppose to be “growth.” I believe the growth is the disfunction! This is a grown ass women who has made some mistakes in her life; but how can she teach others with her behavior now! Grandma is not setting good examples in her life. Man down, oh please give me a break! In my option she has a lot of growing to do, on the other hand, I truly want to see the best for Neffe. I can honestly say that I never got 2 watch it when it was on CW because time warner does not carry that show but now that it aired on BET I have seen every episode and me and my husband were getting to be like teens every tues. when new ones aired.We couldn’t believe the show ended we never new until my girlstold me that the show was canceled and my thought on that is I hardly ever like any shows on television right now and that show made me laugh cry and really be one of those people who talk to the actor through the tv . I am hoping and praying for you guys and I hope that BET will pullthrough and not let this show end like this.
