BET Gets Off-Network Rights To The Game
February 2nd, 2009 | 10 Comments | Email | Share | TweetBET has acquired off-network rights to the comedy series The Game from CBS TV Distribution and will begin airing episodes from the show’s first two seasons in February. The deal also gives BET rights to the third season, currently set to air on The CW starting in the fall.
The show marks the first series acquisition made by Barbara Zaneri, the former Choice Entertainment president who recently joined BET as exec VP of acquisitions.
“This is something I went after the minute I got to BET,” she said. “Not only does it have really fresh African-American stars, but it has a great lineup of guest stars. People like Robin Givens and Vivica Fox – these are people who are regularly on our network.”
The Game stars Tia Mowry, Wendy Raquel Robinson and Brittany Daniels as wives and girlfriends of professional football players.
BET has just acquired rights to ABC’s Emmy-nominated made-for A Raisin in the Sun, starring Sean Combs. The network also has cable TV rights to recent theatricals including the T.D. Jakes-adapted Not Easily Broken and Soul Man, starring the late Bernie Mac.
i hate that the game is gone people actually liked the show if that was the case it should have been called the series finale instead of season now all we have left is to watch reruns of the same episodes we have already seen. This was just a way cw network could get most of all of the african american shows off of its network just like they did with girlfriends

I agree with you rashay that’s was just a way to get all the african americans off channel 9 that’s really stupid of them to do that. I devoted my fridays to come home and watch the game I love all of the characters now I will miss them all we all should get together and write about it I will let all my friends know that the cw sucks

African American has no control over what show stay on tv. The boxes used for ratings are not installed in African American homes that would watch these programs. This is the real reason for our shows being removed. Until Pooke, NeNe and lil Ray Ray become a real part of the count we will forever loose good African American shows.

I am really upset about the game being off air! I love that show and I will miss it. I don’t kno what the deal is with CW, but it does look like its a race issue b/c all the shows they manely pay any attention 2 and stay on the longest are mostly white episodes. I hope the game goes 2 another network that appriecate them and gives us new episodes.

I clearly dont see what the big deal is about CBS letting BET take over the show, “The Game”. That show is one of the greaset ever, I actually think it should have been an hour long. They need to let BET takeover so we can get this show on the ball. I miss it and everthing about it, it was funny and I dont understand why it was takin away!!! We finally get something we love and obviously they try and take it away. I DO NOT appreciate the way they try and take things away from my people. I’m getting nerved up about this situation and ima have an attitude in a minute with CBS if they dont get it together. Stop HATING and give BET the show, we dont need you, you’re useless and cruel!!!!!! Lets go BET keep doing what you know is right, thats why you’re LOVED soooo much (BET).
why do net always kick of the black shows off cause they dont want us to get a head of them and then when they get kick off they switch to bet and thats all good but they need to come back so when can see the new ones
