Four episodes into the second season of Breaking Bad, AMC has picked up Vince Gilligan’s drama for a third season. Following a well-received first season that earned the series a Peabody Award and an Emmy for star Bryan Cranston, the second season has garnered even more critical acclaim and commercial success. The second-season opener of the Sony TV-produced series drew 1.7 million viewers, up 21% from the first-season premiere.

Created by Gilligan, Breaking Bad stars Cranston as a high-school chemistry teacher-turned-meth manufacturer after being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Co-starring on the series, executive produced by Gilligan and Mark Johnson, are Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, RJ Mitte, Dean Norris and Betsy Brandt.

Breaking Bad joins fellow AMC drama Mad Men, which also has been renewed for a third season.

Why such a critically acclaimed show, which has won Emmys & the Peabody award, is treated
like the “red headed step child”. The reruns air, at midnight, you’d have to be on speed
to stay awake to watch it & then get up in the a.m and function. What’s with AMC are they
trying to lose there audience??? It’s about time for some maturety AMC, it’s the best of
any show out there, strut your stuff!
