ABC Mulling Cancellation Or Relauch Of Pushing Daisies
November 13th, 2008 | 0 Comments | Email | Share | TweetABC is leaning toward not picking up any more episodes of the critically acclaimed, but little seen, Pushing Daisies this season says Variety. The show is currently winding down production on its 13-episode order. An ABC spokeswoman stressed that no final decision has yet been made on the show. Network executives are still big fans of the show, and blame Pushing Daisies’ strike-induced ten month break for this fall’s struggling numbers.
ABC may extend its options on the show’s cast and attempt another relaunch next year. At a recent Paley Center panel, showrunner Bryan Fuller said he’d consider continuing the Pushing Daisies storyline in a comic book if the show was canceled. Pushing Daisies, which has earned raves for its quirky storylines and stylish design, has averaged just 6.6 million views overall, and a 2.3 rating and 5 share after five episodes this season. The show has been pre-empted the past two weeks, first for a Dancing with the Stars results show, and this week because of the CMA Awards.
