ABC Family Announces 2009 Summer Schedule

ABC Family announced its summer primetime schedule showcasing returning hits including The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Lincoln Heights and Greek, while revealing the details on three new shows.

First of the new shows to premiere will be Make It or Break It, a scripted drama set in the world of competitive gymnastics. Set to premiere June 22 at 9 pm, the hourlong show stars Chelsea Hobbs stars as a newcomer to the competitive circuit. 10 Things I Hate About You, premiering July 7 at 8pm, is a high school-set half-hour written and executive produced by Carter Covington and starring Lindsay Shaw and Meaghan Jette Martin. Gil Junger, the director of the 1999 feature film of the same name, directed the pilot.

The half-hour comedy Ruby and the Rockits will star David Cassidy as a former teen idol who strikes up a new band with his family. His brother Shaun Cassidy is executive producing, along with Marsh McCall. The show premieres July 21 at 8:30 pm.

All three series will receive a promotional boost from the return of ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager, which returns with episodes June 22 at 8 pm. Lincoln Heights will return for its fourth season Tuesday, August 14, at 9 pm. The third season of Greek will premiere Monday, September 14, at 8 pm.
