Kelli Williams Joining The Cast Of Men In Trees
Posted on July 29th, 2007 at 3:49 pm

Ex-Practice star Kelli Williams is joining the cast as a love interest for James Tupper’s character. But in a bit of a twist, the two won’t connect in Elmo. Far from it, in fact. “Jack’s going off to do a job far, far away and he’s going to meet a woman named Julia,” Trees creator Jenny Bicks reveals to me exclusively. “She’s happily married, but they are going to bond emotionally over something very significant that happens on the high seas.” Williams is on board for at least five or six episodes, beginning with this season’s seventh.

Kevin Smith To Direct First Episode Of Heroes: Origins
Posted on July 28th, 2007 at 10:42 pm

Heroes: Origins was discussed at the San Diego Comic Con Heroes Panel. They talked about how each episode will cover a single character and it was revealed that Kevin Smith will be directing the first episode. This announcement shocked even the cast as Smith came out on stage. He joked that he wanted to direct an episode about the first ‘gay heroes’. He joked about how the ‘two Japanese dudes’ were gay. “If you can do an autopsy on a cheerleader, you can show a couple of heroes making out.” “I don’t want to be the guy who ruined ‘Heroes’” he said. “‘Heroes: Origins’ starts in April.

Edward Herrmann is scrubbing up for a guest role on ABC’s hit drama Grey’s Anatomy. Details on his role are being kept under wraps, but it is understood that he will play a doctor in at least three episodes. Herrmann, who most recently co-starred on The Gilmore Girls as Lorelai’s (Lauren Graham) father, won an Emmy in 1999 for his guest role on The Practice.

Val Kilmer Appearing In Numbers Season Premiere
Posted on July 26th, 2007 at 7:44 am

Val Kilmer is reuniting with “Top Gun” director Tony Scott for the Season 4 premiere of Numbers, airing September 28. “It’s a double whammy!” says series star David Krumholtz. “We’ve had a lot of great actors on the show, but Val takes the cake. We’ve got to thank Tony for bringing him in.” And Kilmer, who also worked with Scott on True Romance and Déjà Vu, is no stranger to mathematical plotlines. “Val played the original math and science genius in Real Genius,” reminds Krumholtz. “That was shot at Cal Tech, which is where we shoot our show. Val is revisiting his old roots as an actor.” Though Krumholtz doesn’t have any scenes with Kilmer, he’s psyched to have the star onboard. “He’s one of the most provocative actors,” he says. “It proves our show is a cut above the rest to attract actors like him. Hopefully this will get more eyes on our show.”

Harold Perrineau Is Returning To Lost Next Season
Posted on July 25th, 2007 at 5:24 pm

Today at the ABC Press tour, ABC president Stephen McPherson refused to reveal anything about upcoming season of Lost because several majoar announcements are slated to be revealed at Comic-Con this week. Several reporters chided McPherson for holding the Lost news for a “fan convention,” instead of making the announcements today. Later, an ABC representative interrupted the session when she walks over to McPherson and whispers something in his ear. McPherson then announces that someone on his team got in touch with Damon Lindelof and he gave his blessing to share the big news with us: Harold Perrineau is returning to Lost!

Brian Henson Talks About Farscape Webisodes
Posted on July 25th, 2007 at 8:52 am

Executive producer Brian Henson gave TV Guide some scoop about the upcoming revival, and also indicated that bigger plans for the franchise lie ahead. A dozen new webisodes of the irreverent 1999-2003 live-action/puppet science-fiction adventure could launch as early as this fall on Scifi.com. Scripts have yet to be written, but Henson says the installments will be three to six minutes long, and “each one is a cool little cliff-hanger scene that takes you on a mind-twisting adventure.” He expects some of the series’ actors and writers to return, but as of yet no deals have been signed. As to whether stars Ben Browder and Claudia Black will come back, Henson hints that their characters’ son, D’Argo Sun-Crichton, will likely be featured in the project. “The story will definitely take place in the Farscape universe,” Henson says, “and there will be some characters that the audience knows and some characters that will be new.”

Gordon Talks About Plot For Seventh Season Of 24
Posted on July 25th, 2007 at 8:11 am

Executive Producer Howard Gordon gave an interview with iF Magazine at Fox’s Summer Press Tour about what to expect from Season Seven. Gordon talked about the now abandoned Africa storyline. The original plan was to have Jack Bauer travelling Africa trying to find himself, and becoming caught up in a coup with “Black Hawk Down” style results. There was also to be a 12-hour time jump halfway through, with the second half set in the US.

The actual season seven story they’re using is set three years on from the sixth season, and will be set entirely in and around Washington DC starting from 7am. The female President (Cherry Jones) will have already been established as being in office for a while when the day starts off. She will have no link or knowledge of Jack initially, and will be portrayed as a well-articulated and idealized president.

HBO Renews Big Love For A Third Season
Posted on July 24th, 2007 at 11:14 am

In HBO’s first major programming move since it changed regimes, the cable network has renewed Big Love for a third season. HBO has picked up 12 episodes of the show, in which Bill Paxton and Chloe Sevigny star as members of a polygamous family in Utah. Writing is set to begin next month; lensing is skedded for November. The renewal, which comes earlier than expected, will ensure the season is completed and ready to air by the time a possible labor stoppage shuts down production in June.

CBS Cancels Pirate Master, Episodes To Air Online
Posted on July 24th, 2007 at 11:13 am

CBS is making Pirate Master walk the plank. The network has pulled the Mark Burnett-produced reality skein from its lineup, effective immediately. Series bowed to weak numbers in May and had been sinking ever since, despite a shift to a Monday night slot earlier this month. Five episodes of Pirate Master remain unaired. Those will be streamed via CBS.com and the CBS Audience Network, with new segs posting every Tuesday.
