ABC has renewed Castle for a third season. The 22 episode pickup came after Monday night’s episode – the second half of a two-parter – landed the number 1 slot at 10:00 PM/ET, and also posted its best ratings ever among adults 18-49 (3.7 rating/10 share) and total viewers (14.5 million).
The detective drama, starring Nathan Fillion, has been gaining on Monday nights, especially when paired with Dancing With the Stars. Castle marks a rare success in the 10:00 PM/ET hour for a relatively new program, a time period that’s been increasingly difficult for networks to program.
